Higher Education

It looks like I will be able to register with the University of KwaZulu-Natal for a PhD, no problem. I work with some great people this year. One of them followed up my application for me and it seems that all is good. So I've been (more or less) officially told to get going with my proposal. Hooray!
I'll be doing some stuff specific to the Methodist Church relating to the operating of churches within the Black section and within the English-speaking section. They operate very differently and I hope, using Systems Theory, to find better ways of understanding each other and cooperating. I believe in what I will be doing! I hope that it works out like I expect.

It won't. And that, they say, is where a doctorate goes from good to great. Not that I have done a doctorate. Wife M. had an initial doctoral thesis, something like a sense of calling sustains the missionary. To her surprise, the research upset that.

I must admit that I'm not trying to anticipate the actual outcome my thesis. But I'll have to see if they try to tie me down at the proposal stage. I want something still to be fun later!

Congratulations, it sounds like an interesting topic, and your experience of the last couple of years should give you a good grounding in it. I only thave the vaguest idea what systems theory is, though. I think I once edited a Unisa study guide on the topic, but it was so long ago that I've forgotten most of it.
