Non-Whites and Biko
I really want to blog about the two pages that I have read from Steve Biko's writings . . . but I need to work. So just a comment about how odd the phrase 'non-white' sounds to my ear now. We have moved on since Apartheid. Of course, the fact that my mind keeps saying 'don't you think it should be non-black' is discouraging, because it shows that we are starting to think in terms of non-black. And, I have a suspicion that part of my fascination with Steve Biko is that his writings could form a text-book for racial minorities in South Africa in the future. I don't think Biko would have minded - but I'm not sure about his current followers!
