Trial Services

I did two trial services today as part of the journey to the ordained ministry. I guess I feel pretty wiped out. But - they are done. And I passed both of them, which I suppose is important!
Fighting feelings of inadequacy. Does God really want me to do this? Why doesn't he make me a better preacher?
But I felt his presence so strongly. Somehow it has got to work out.

Hi Jenny

"Though I may speak with the tongues of angels..." Don't feel inadequate if you think that you aren't a "great preacher" - you are most likely a far better preacher than you are making yourself out to be. You also can't be TOO bad if you have managed to pass your two trial services!

Besides, my own experience of ministers is that the best ministers aren't necessarily the best preachers around, but they have a heart for God and for His people. To me that counts for far more than being able to preach in eloquent tones.

May God continue to bless you on your journey towards ministry, and I'm sure that we'll catch up at Synod.

Thanks Stephen. What I probably need is someone to tell me to stop feeling sorry for myself and get out there and do something! But that probably wouldn't have been wise last night when I wrote this post! Thanks for the encouragement.
